Life is about having experiences, big and small, memorable and mundane, transformative and trivial. But what is an experience, and how do we understand the type of experience that people are having?

This question has been central to who we are for as long as people have had awareness of having a self to reflect upon. Philosophers and academics have pondered the nature of experience(s). Increasingly, businesses of all kinds are paying attention to the types of experiences they are creating, and how to capture them to design better ones. In fact, we can say that we are living in the “Age of Experiences”, where customer experience, employee experience, patient experience, student experience, digital experience, brand experience, and many more areas to explore.

Experience research and design is about trying to make experiences that better serve those who are impacted by them. Since 1917, Bentley University has been an educational institution that believes in “business as a force for good.” The Experience Research Society (EXPRESSO) was founded “to foster cross-disciplinary collaboration around experiences to create scientific and societal impact.”

Together, they are bringing the 2024 7X Summit to celebrate and share the most cutting edge thinking and research on experiences.
